Haul & Review: Rimmel London

Cheeky sales looming your way? You'll take the opportunity, I'd say!
(Well that's what I did).

In this post, I'll be imparting with you some Rimmel London lip and eye products from my recent haul.

First up we have the lovely lipsticks, the Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss lippies in the shades, #111 Kiss of Life, #106 and #101. I fell in love with the sassy red packaging, and being fond of matte formulas when it comes to lipsticks, I had to pick these up.

(Left to right: #111, #106 and #101)

#111 Kiss of Life is a beautiful, bright classic red that compliments most skin tones. This is my favourite shade out of the bunch; perfect for those special occasions like on a dinner date for example.

#106 is a brilliant deep pink. I call this shade the more flirtatious and younger sister of #111 Kiss of Life. Appropriate for most occasions and a great bold alternative to the classic red.

#101 is a cool tone pale mauve-pink that looks beautiful swatched but once applied on my pigmented lips, makes me look a bit washed out. But with the addition of colour to my face, I think I can pull this off. My sister and friend think otherwise. This shade has the most drying formulas out of the trio; the product settles into the fines, distastefully emphasising them. I suggest exfoliating the lips and applying a moisturising lip balm or plumping product prior to application.

The formulae of these matte lipsticks can be a bit drying but it is also dependent on the shade of the lipstick. Great pigmentation and if you're a fan of fruity, artificial melon scents, then this one's for you.
On the downside, this product is definitely not "kiss-proof"; if you're planning to get frisky with a boy, I suggest using another lip product, as this lipstick transfers very easily.

Ah, the highly spoken, Apocalips Lip Lacquers. I picked up the shade #500 Luna on asos after observing its absence in Australian stores. This is a beautiful peachy coral colour leaning more towards the orange side. Initially, I was very excited to try this product out after reading numerous posts raving on what a great pigmented lip gloss this was. Well, based on my own experiences, this has got to be possibly the worst lip gloss I've tried. The colour is highly pigmented swatched on my arm but once applied on the lips, oh my... The finish is non uniform in appearance. This lip product is excellent in accentuating my lips in the most unsightly manner; it clings onto dry patches (I didn't know I had), did not adhere to my lips properly and sinks into lip lines. Adding to much product on made my lips look like I had a viscous peach coloured slime slapped on - very unflattering and tacky, and of course sticky.
This product is the first product I've tried to appreciate; I've given up and I think the formula is a huge failure. Likewise to the Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss lipsticks, you can expect the same melon scent in this product.

(Swatches from left to right: #111, #106#101 and #500 Luna)

Moving onto the eye products, I picked up the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eyeliner in #004 Taupe and the Glam' Eyes professional liquid liner in #001 Black Glamour.

(Swatches from top to bottom: #004 Taupe and #001 Black Glamour)

The Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eyeliner in #004 Taupe is a gorgeous brownish-grey eyeliner pencil that goes on creamy and smoothly achieving great pigmented colour for my lower lash line. Perfect for a natural look and is utterly school and work appropriate. Don't fret about staying power because with this eyeliner you can expect great longevity. A great product from Rimmel and I will definitely repurchase. Oh, if you don't have a sharpener, please invest in one for these pencils!

One of my favourite Rimmel products has got to be the Glam' Eyes professional liquid liner in #001 Black Glamour. Equipped with one of the thinnest brushes I've encountered, you can expect a precise and sharp thin line to create a natural look (despite the swatches provided, it does provide a beautiful thin line!). The formula is a bit runny, so I like to brush down the excess "ink" on the insides of the barrel of the tube. Want an even more natural look? Stick to a bashful brown shade. Pigmentation of this black liquid eyeliner is outstanding. You can actually go over the eyeliner strokes to make your eyes even more bolder and guess what? It doesn't flake up or chip the existing eyeliner stroke. For those starting off with liquid eyeliners, application can be a bit tricky; this is a brush type liquid eyeliner, not those felt-tip applicator liquid eyeliners. Possibly the best drug store eyeliner I've tried, yes, this is indeed my "HG" liquid eyeliner.

And that concludes my Rimmel London haul!
I hope you enjoyed this post!
If you had much differing experiences with these products, let me know! If you're loving other products from Rimmel (London) please share! I'd love to try out more products from this drugstore brand.

Thanks everyone!
Have a beautiful day.

    1. I actually entertained the same idea! I thought my one was bad product too! I failed to make this product work with my lips :(
You can use the eyeliner to line your waterline, add a bit of definition around the outer corners of your undereyes to balance out your eye (i.e. heavy top eye) or use as a eyeshadow shade :)
